Hana Tamaru
Hana Tamaru is a UK-based Japanese theatre-maker, facilitator and actress.
Her practice focuses on producing and directing new devised theatre productions, often working with creatives of different nationalities and backgrounds. She plans and leads workshops both in community and school settings to create spaces and performances that foster cultural integration, aspiring to break the walls of language and culture through arts.
Her previous works include Producing & Associate Directing Net Cafe Refugee 2.0 (2026), Associate Directing Net Cafe Refugee (2025), Producing and Directing Don’t Get Me Wrong (2024), Assistant Producing CONNECT Festival (2023).
Outside of her theatre productions, she is a facilitator and an administrator with experiences across both creative and corporate sectors including; FOH Operations Coordinator at The Old Vic, Project Administrative Assistant at The Old Vic, Assistant Producer at Four Wheel Drive Theatre, Administrative Assistant at the Embassy of Japan in the United Kingdom.
She is a graduate of MA in Theatre-Making at University of York.
